Welcome to Borodino Scale Line

We're the craftsman's model railroad supply, featuring model trains & model railroading details, scenery & scratch building materials,  new and pre-enjoyed trains and vintage kits. We discount from 10% to 60% off list price.

Our model railroading shop, located just 7 miles south of Skaneateles in Central New York, is dedicated to expanding this great hobby. We invite the novice to the MMR to come and see what we have available to make your model railroad come alive. We specialize in scenery and scratch building materials, details, figures vehicles etc. Our stock of trains is limited yet open to the availability of products from our distributors. We stock craftsman style building kits from various manufacturers. We do stock items mostly for HO scale. We do recognize all scales but our limited space constricts our ability to stock them all. If you have trains we think you will like our train shop. Model railroading is a fun hobby, join us in the adventure.

Borodino Scale Line enters a new era.

In 2003 I opened BSL in my garage shortly after I retired.
The store had an opportunity to relocate to a high volume customer location plus increase our foot print by 66% in August of 2004. This was all thanks to my Stepmother Elsie. During the last two years she put up a great fight against the Mesothelioma that invaded her body. With her passing January 12, 2017 at the age of 81, just 36 days from her 82nd birthday, it has been necessary to move back to my humble beginnings. Elsie enjoyed talking to so many of my BSL customers as she kept her flower beds blooming.

She was so gracious to allow me to open BSL in her home. Thank You.

The hobby has lost one of the greats and one of the nicest people anyone could know.
Earl Smallshaw passed away January, 3, 2014 at the age of 80.
Earl is survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara, daughters Susan and Sally sons, Steve and Scott.
Pre-deceased by Daughter Sharon in 2012. Earl was a wood worker, cartoonist, founding father of the Hartford Workshop and racked up 32 articles in various Model Railroad publications. He also presented many clinics at NMRA conventions to share his accomplishments in the hobby. He loved to show off his beautiful Middletown & Mystic Mines layout and share his many talents. The many model railroaders of Central New York who visited Earlís layout have many fond memories as well. He will be missed by those who knew him and those he mentored in his favorite hobby, model railroading.

Earl was a personal friend of mine, and we enjoyed many years of visiting each otherís layouts and discussing our great hobby.
